Scaravelli inspired Yoga is a stress free, though demanding form of hatha Yoga suitable and beneficial to everyone. Hatha Yoga has many definitions, and is the umbrella term used to describe all physical practices of Yoga.
The primary focus in Vanda’s approach is to release tension from the body and gain length throughout the spine. Being attentive to the breath and gravity we create the conditions in the body that free the spine and allow the body to rediscover its own fluid nature.
Vanda Scaravelli trained with T. K. V. Desikachar and B. K. S. Iyengar. With Iyengar’s blessing she went on to develop her own unique approach which she describes in her inspirational book Awakening the Spine.
When the book was first published this approach to yoga was described as ‘revolutionary’ and it still is.
